OCN teacher receives award

An OCN teacher has been honored with a Governor General’s award.

Connie Wyatt Anderson will be the recipient of the 2014 Governor General’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History. Anderson teaches at Oscar Lathlin Collegiate and will be receiving her award in Ottawa at Rideau Hall on November 3rd. Anderson has created an interactive curriculum that allows her students to embrace their heritage and culture by learning about the First World War through the eyes of First Nations soldiers. The awards are made possible through Canada’s History Society, which recognizes Canadian teachers who are helping to ‘bring history to life’ for Canadian students.
