Leaders Meet in The Pas At The Hub Forum

The Town of The Pas could become a much larger hub for transporting goods and services. The Pas is already known as a Hub for the North, but yesterday Business and Community leaders from Manitoba and Saskatchewan were in The Pas to discuss future possibilities. Discussions included shipping goods and services right through The Pas up to Churchill so they can be shipped to Europe. There was some concern however of the impact this could have on our environment. A few of the business and communities in attendance included the Manitoba Minister of Agriculture, Town of the Pas, The Town of Nipawin, Town of Churchill, The RM of Kelsey, OCN, Calm Air, Tolko and Hudson Bay Mining. Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Ron Kostyshyn said shipping through Churchill would be the most cost efficient means of transportation. Discussions for future plans will continue.
